Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, North Carolina opened in 1958 and specializes in heart care, cancer treatment and surgical services. Recently, the hospital resume surgeries that were canceled due to the CDC COVID 19 restrictions from the governor.
NC Governor Roy Cooper, and Dr. Mandy Cohen, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary put a press release out to residents of North Carolina on the implementation of an Executive Order, which paused phase 2 and mandated wearing face mask in public.
“I know North Carolinians are strong, resilient, and care deeply about our communities. We pride ourselves on helping our neighbors. The best way we can do that now is by taking the simple action of wearing a face covering that covers your nose and mouth. If we each do our part, we can get back to the people and places we love,” said Dr. Mandy Cohen, NCDHHS Secretary.
A surgical assistant with Cape Fear Medical Center, who took a smoke break during his shift, said, we are terribly busy in the surgical units because we can resume surgeries again.
Routine surgeries were on hold because of COVID restrictions, he said.
Cape Fear Valley Medical Center is in Cumberland County, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services on the Corona Pandemic recent updates, it has 1,888 COVID cases and 46 deaths.
The City of Fayetteville had a message for Cape Fear Valley healthcare workers.
